I'll also give you some context on what hornpipes actually are, where they came from, along with some musical and technical tips to help you get to grips with this laid back style of dance. Some people believe the bodhran found its name from the Gaelic words for skin and tray combined. Others believe it has derived from the Irish word ‘bodhar’ which means deaf or dull.
