The Hotel Portmeirion - We Want Information…Information..."You are Number Six!"

Who is Number One? You are Number Six. Actually, our room at the Hotel Portmeirion didn’t have a number, it was the Peacock Suite. If you have never seen the 1960s TV series ‘The Prisoner’ filmed in Portmeirion, you probably don’t have any idea what we’re talking about. Anyway, back to the hotel, The Hotel Portmeirion which is on the waterfront in the pretty Italian influenced village of Portmeirion in North Wales. The village was designed and built by the Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. We spent one night in the Peacock Suite and had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The Peacock Suite was created by Williams-Ellis for Edward VIII's stay and Noel Coward wrote Blithe Spirit in the Fountain Suite. In Portmeirion, the GateHouse was stayed in by Brian Epstein, The Beatles' manager, while George Harrison spent his 50th birthday in the village.
