Pyatigorsk: a Caucasian city with unique trams, a cable car, and tiny buses!

Southern Russian cities always have a unique charm. A cozy historic center with beautiful architecture and outskirts with private homes, where everyone builds their own home as they please. These cities almost always have mediocre pedestrian infrastructure, almost always poorly developed public transportation, and almost always lag behind Moscow in terms of overall development by 20-30 years, stuck somewhere in the Soviet Union. But Pyatigorsk has an advantage: its tram system! Urban electric transportation is very rare in the Caucasus, so thanks to the tram, you'll overlook most of Pyatigorsk's shortcomings. It boasts unique trams not found in other Russian cities, a picturesque tram line offering views of Russia's highest mountain, Elbrus, dedicated tram tracks, and a new overhead power line installed to railway standards! True, the tracks in almost the entire city are in dire need of major repairs, but that doesn't stop the trams from running... Not super fast, but faster than I expected. Pyatigorsk also has a cable car and plenty of tiny Gazelle buses, which are among the most widely used means of transport in Russia and the former Soviet Union.
