Paso migratorio en el Cuerno de África - Entre Fronteras 19/06/2025

The Horn of Africa, comprising Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, and the self-proclaimed Somaliland, is one of the most complex and fragile regions on the African continent. Despite its natural and cultural wealth, millions of people are forced to migrate due to conflict, extreme poverty, and the effects of climate change, compounded by weak state infrastructure that hinders access to basic services. Today, this region is one of the areas most affected by forced displacement. It is estimated that more than 18 million people in this region require humanitarian assistance, according to United Nations data. Migration here is not a choice; it is a necessity. Entire families embark on perilous journeys within and beyond the continent, seeking safety, food, or simply a possible future. Often, they encounter closed borders, violence, or new forms of exclusion. As global society becomes increasingly interconnected, and the world debates walls and migration policies, and the Horn of Africa is no exception, human movements are not a threat, they are a sign: of what must be changed in the imperialist logic, denounced countless times by social movements and governments that look after their citizens.
