Forest Heatwave Solo Hike Day 2 | Halnaker to Apuldram | Care & Rescue

Day 2 of 32 mile hike between Amberley and Nutbourne. All of it is connected, integrated, and working in this beautiful synergy together, that as we walk through the landscape, we're a part of. As I'm walking I'm extending my senses into the body of the earth, the body of the soil, and the trees. It's largely to do with observing and having the intention to sense what's around us. It's to do with feeling what's real in my body and the bodies of the world. Nothing fake, nothing artificially created. As I walked I was thinking about how I care for myself, and how we care for each other. I discuss some practical hiking tips but I'm pondering more and more on the type of care and rescue which nature brings, which greater simplicity brings, which engaging my brain and instincts when encountering problems brings. Feeling the freedom this brings. I walked this three days in May to support the RNLI's lifesaving work - the same weekend when at least 19 people died in open water in the UK, tragically dying whilst seeking to cool down from the heat, or attempting to rescue others.
