Feux de forêt en Gironde : comment la stratégie post-2022 a permis de stopper l'incendie d'Avensan

A fire broke out this Tuesday around 4 p.m. in the town of Avensan, in the heart of the Gironde forest. Thanks to a quick alert from a municipal police officer on patrol, a massive response was immediately deployed: 100 firefighters, 70 vehicles, a Dash aircraft, and two helicopters were committed to fighting the blaze swiftly and decisively. The fire was contained after burning 2.6 hectares of forest. This deployment is directly based on lessons learned from the major fires of 2022, with the implementation of a close-knit territorial network through the Forest Fire Intervention Groups (GIF). While the Gironde department is under an orange alert due to drought and successive heat waves, the vegetation remains extremely flammable, and the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) is maintaining maximum vigilance. 📰 To stay up-to-date with the news in your region and support our editorial team, discover our Sud Ouest subscription offers: https://abonnement.sudouest.fr/ 🔔 Don't miss any of our video productions: subscribe to the Sud Ouest YouTube channel and turn on notifications! #Gironde #Avensan #Fire #ForestFire #Firefighters #Drought #SudOuest #News
