There Is No Growth Without Rest

Why do so many of us feel exhausted, overstimulated, and spiritually flat? In this Sunday homily, Fr. Jonathan Meyer reflects on Jesus’ parable of the yeast and explains why growth requires the right conditions: nourishment, warmth, time—and rest. Just as dough cannot rise if it is constantly being worked, we cannot become the people God created us to be if our lives are always overbooked, overworked, and filled with noise. True rest is not laziness or endless screen time. It is silence, prayer, family life, meaningful conversation, and simply being present with God. Fr. Meyer challenges us to say no to constant busyness and unhealthy technology use, and to rediscover the commandment of rest. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” God has placed tremendous potential within you. Create the conditions for Him to work—and let your life rise. #CatholicHomily #SundayHomily #Rest #Prayer #CatholicFaith #FrJonathanMeyer #Jesus #Sabbath #FaithAndFamily
