And all from La Casa Encendida, a social and cultural center named after a verse by Luis Rosales. Luis Rosales was a writer and essayist of the Generation of '36 with a much more classical style than his colleagues from the Generation of '27, who were more avant-garde. Although Rosales didn't understand these "modernisms," he was close friends with Pedro Salinas, Jorge Guillén, and Federico García Lorca. He and Lorca had a friendship that transcended good and evil. Rosales leaned very far to the right, ideologically speaking, of course. And Lorca was the complete opposite. Despite these differences, Rosales didn't hesitate to give his friend refuge during the war. Rosales, being a publicly right-wing figure, thought no one would suspect him and his house would be a safe haven for his friend. Unfortunately, he was wrong, and the Nationalists raided Rosales's house without him being able to do anything, and we all know Lorca's sad end. Manuel Ayllón has written a book about this case. His research indicates the final location of his remains, contradicting the official story about his death. A controversial and surprising account that is the result of extensively documented research in civil and religious archives.
