Lecture 28 Recycle Problem Solved using Extent of Reaction
This video takes up a recycle problem involving chemical reaction. Extent of reaction has been used in order to do all the calculations. Degree of freedom analysis is used to develop a systematic approach to solve recycle problem in reactive systems. Initially degree of freedom was found to be zero for the overall system. Hence, calculations were started by taking balance on the entire system. After these set of calculations, degree of freedom was not zero on any subsystem. Hence a combination of mixing point and reactor was selected for material balance as the degree of freedom on this combined system was zero. The calculations directly gave the value of recycle stream.
