Early Glenn Miller and his Orchestra NBC Broadcasts
Here are some selections of Glenn Miller's NBC radio broadcasts from the Paradise Restaurant in New York City and the Meadowbrook Ballroom in Cedar Grove NJ. These were recorded between December 30, 1938 and March 31, 1939. They contain many of Glenn's arrangements and some of the popular show/movie tunes of the era. The band was on the verge of breaking on to the national stage during its engagement at the Glen Island Casino that started on May 17, 1939. An interesting look at the band as it was poised to become one of the giants of the swing era.
