Restoring a Rare Löwenthal Split-Seconds Chronograph | Valjoux 84 Revival

In this video, I restore a rare Löwenthal split-seconds chronograph powered by the legendary Valjoux 84 movement. This watch arrived in poor condition: missing its column wheel, with a broken setting lever, and showing signs of age. Through careful restoration, sourcing rare parts, and bringing the movement back to life, we reveal the beauty of this vintage timepiece. 🔧 The Valjoux 84 is no ordinary movement. Built on the Valjoux 22 base and improved by Bovet, it features an ingenious mono-rattrapante system: a single button for start, stop, and reset, plus a split-seconds button to record intermediate times. 🏎️ The Löwenthal brand is closely tied to Bovet, and there’s even a story that Enzo Ferrari gifted a Löwenthal chronograph to driver Gigi Villoresi after a Grand Prix victory in the early 1950s. This unique link between racing history and horology makes the watch even more fascinating.
