Spiti marathon - First edition

The First Edition of Spiti Marathon is a unique opportunity for runners from around India and the world to run with local Spiti Valley natives through an ancient Buddhist kingdom grappling with the rapid changes of today. The historic capital of Kaza, Tabo and Sumdo the stunning vistas will leave you with lifelong memories and a chance to say you ran SPITI MARATHON. The terrain of Lahaul Spiti is treacherous with barren land and high mountains. An Avenger Challenge of 77 kilometres at this altitude will not only be for the physical fitness but also the toughness of participant minds. This marathon will also give them a good opportunity for sound mind-body coordination, a medium for better Army-civil agencies coordination. This will also promote the culture, environment and tourism of Spiti Valley, showcasing the physical and mental toughness of runners. The event is further divided into the following sub-events to give choice to an individual to participate in the event of their choice: – i. Spiti Avengers Challenge – 77 kms – From Kaza to Sumdo ii. Marathon – 42 kms – From Sumdo – Giu – Hurling – Sumdo. iii. Half Marathon – 21 kms – From Sumdo – Giu – Sumdo. iv. Run For Fun – 10 kms – Sumdo – Giu jn – Sumdo. GPS route -   / strava
