Tour du Maurice | JOUR 1 : Le français Deurweilher gagne la première étape

Frenchman Guillaume Deurweilher won the first stage of the Tour of Mauritius and took the yellow jersey. Deurweilher was part of a four-man breakaway on the longest stage of the Tour: 153 kilometers. Ethiopian Desta, Dutchman Wijfje, Frenchman Deurweilher, and Englishman Jober built up a lead of up to two minutes over the peloton. Following a spectacular but minor crash, James Jober was dropped 15 kilometers from the finish. Desta suffered from a bonk. Deurweilher and Wijfje crossed the finish line together: the rider from Réunion outsprinted the Dutchman. In other news: "Bois-Chéri" tea is the most consumed tea in Mauritius.
