Stampscapes Channel Media Notes: BRILLIANCE PIGMENT INK PADS RE-INKING

There was a question posted on re-inking a dry Brilliance ink pad so I thought I would do a dedicated video for that as I had noticed a couple things when doing this myself. My first observation was that all of the inks in this line are not the same in terms of how they stamp on certain surfaces due, probably, to viscosity differences and that also affected how the re-inking process works. I don't have a lot of these pads but the gold, in particular, really stands out from the rest. It's thicker and that metallic pigment seems to play a big part in preparing a pad in getting the ink evenly distributed and how long it seems to take to put the dried pigment ink, already on the pad, back into solution. My black pad was probably 20 years old or so when I started using it last year so it was completely dry and I don't recall how long it took to re-ink it for the first time or how much ink it took but, with any of these thick inks, you have to use something to press the ink into the pad material. Try to not over-ink your pads. In this video, I probably added too much of the gold ink as it seems like it was saturated but I couldn't tell because of the dry outer layer that practically seals off the pad but I, eventually, get it pressed into the material. The white an black inks are much easier for me to soak the pads as the ink is a lot thinner. Imagine Crafts is the distributor for Tsukineko products and can be found on their website.
