The Royal Society Purse Mystery | Crocheting an Edwardian Reticule
I found an antique crochet pattern for a really cute Edwardian reticule…only to find that most of the instructions are missing! The thought of NOT making this little vintage purse was really disappointing, but then I saw a pattern on Ravelry that was remarkably similar, called The Topaz Purse. Even further digging took me to yet another source…so who designed this pattern, and how is it made? I was determined to track down the source of this crafting mystery...and learned about the evolution of the modern handbag from its origins as a coin purse and 18th Century pockets, Welcome to my deep dive into the Victwardian ridicule and the history of the modern handbag. ~ / CoSy Badge Link / ~ https://forms.gle/R5etQeBF2qQuQVhs5 ~ / Mentioned / ~ No. 23: Hand Bag, Bags of all kinds in Crochet, Book No. 5 by Louise Nacke, St. Louis, MO. c1916 - https://www.antiquepatternlibrary.org...
