Who Were the Nephilim? Every Giant in the Bible, Explained

Most people know one giant — Goliath, struck down by a shepherd boy with a sling. But Goliath isn't the beginning of the story. He's very nearly the end of it. Behind him stands an entire population of giant peoples woven through the Bible from before the flood to the days of the kings: the Nephilim, the Anakim, the Rephaim, the Emim, the Zamzummim. In this video we catalogue every giant and every giant clan, in the order the Bible introduces them — looking at what the Hebrew actually says, where these beings came from, and what happened to them: → THE NEPHILIM — Genesis 6, the "fallen ones," and the two major interpretations of the "sons of God" that have divided readers for two thousand years → THE ANAKIM — the sons of Anak, the giants whose report made Israel feel "like grasshoppers" and cost a generation the promised land → THE EMIM & ZAMZUMMIM — the giant peoples of Moab and Ammon, named in Deuteronomy → THE REPHAIM — the giant clan whose name also means "the dead," and their last king, Og of Bashan, with his thirteen-foot iron bed → THE REMNANT — why the giants survived in exactly three Philistine cities: Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod → GOLIATH OF GATH — the famous champion, the textual debate over his height, and his link to the surviving giant line → THE FOUR LAST GIANTS — the overlooked epilogue in 2 Samuel 21, including a giant with six fingers and six toes We trace the Hebrew behind the names — naphal, rephaim, gibbor — and discover that the giants are not a random collection of tall men. They are a single, connected thread, and that thread is about something far deeper than height. It's about fear, faith, and a promise no obstacle could finally stop. From the Valley of Elah all the way to an empty tomb, the message never changes: the fallen ones fall. Which of the giants surprised you most? Let me know in the comments.
