Prefilters WAR: Oase biomaster vs Aquael ultramax. My SECRET improvement!

I love Oase biomaster and Aquael Ultramax canister filters for their built-in prefilters. But wich one clean the water better for your aquarium and keep a flow for a longer period of time. Can we close the gap can we improve our prefilters with some sponges, foam, filter floss or other filter media so they can protect our biological filter media from all the muck? Aquael ultramax series (1000, 1500, 2000) of canister filters for your aquarium are the best budget canister of the moment in my opinion, a great pretender to the throne hold by oase biomaster. But until now Oase Biomaster 250, 350, 600 and 850 had the best prefilter/flow rate on the market despite of the slightly higher price for an external filter.
