Don't Make Your Own Bread

Not every hunger is permission to act. In Luke 4, Jesus was truly hungry. The temptation was not merely to eat bread. The temptation was to become His own solution apart from the Father’s voice. The enemy said, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered with the Word: “Man shall not live on bread alone.” That means we do not live by appetite alone. We do not live by pressure alone. We do not live by urgency alone. We live by every word that comes from God. So often, when we feel hungry, empty, pressured, or afraid, we move presumptuously. We try to solve the problem in our own strength. We turn stones into bread before we have heard the Father. But Jesus shows us another way. The Spirit-filled life is not reactionary. It is responsive. We are called to be people who live by Scripture, by the illumination of the Holy Spirit, and by every true word God gives to guide, strengthen, and sustain us. Before you make the move, hear the Word. Before you turn the stone into bread, listen for the Father. You are not sustained merely by what you can produce. You are sustained by what God has spoken. #Luke4 #SpiritFilledLife #Scripture #Discipleship #Jesus #HolySpirit #AriseDothan
