How To Put Your Motorcycle Into Dealer/Diagnostic Mode | DL650 Vstrom L0

Another episode of my Dr Vstrom video series about the Dealer mode. To perform this task you only need the list of FI error codes that I am providing and a small cable or even paperclip to bridge two connectors on the Dealer mode plug. The tutorial demonstrates on a DL 650 Vstrom L0 model but the steps are applicable to the entire Vstrom family. The bike has 2 modes of operation, a "User", normal running mode where if a malfunction occurs an FI error indication is displayed either in the odometer readout area or the clock depending on the model. If the FI is alternated every 2 seconds & the Red FI lamp on the dash is on solid, the bike will start and run in fail-safe mode because the failure or malfunction is not so serious. If however, the Red FI light lamp is blinking, the bike will not start and probably the malfunction is more serious. In such a case dont turn the engine OFF, bridge the dealer plug, get the error code and drive your bike somewhere where you can fix the problem. Error code should be checked before the bike is turned off. Carry a spare key & a jumper so the seat can be removed and Dealer Mode entered while bike is still running. Dealer Mode: FI errors are stored in the ECU when & error is present until power is removed from (battery disconnected or ECU unplugged) the ECU and the error has not been cleared.
