The scent of lavender and its many shades of color, ranging from blue to pale pink, dominates, even though lavender is just one of approximately 480 species of medicinal plants housed in this splendid botanical garden: the Casola Valsenio Herb Garden, founded in 1938 by the passion of Professor Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni, a pioneer of Italian herbalism—and the garden bears his name. It has been in this precise location since 1975. The location is also splendid: just look around. We are within the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Park. The garden is also part of the museum circuit of the province of Ravenna and is a flagship of the Romagna Parks and Biodiversity Management Agency. We're accompanied on a tour of the garden by Lorenzo Cangini, technical director of the Romagna Parks and Biodiversity Management Agency, and Flavio Sartoni, deputy mayor of Casola Valsenio.
