#238 Anna Arno. "Do Pana kieruję moje milczenie", czyli spotkania których nie było
Episode #238, in which we discuss the book "To the Lord I Address My Silence" with Anna Arno at the Potocki Palace in Krakow. First, the author talks about P for an idea for an essay in which she juxtaposes the fates of people who could have met, but whose lives never formally intersected. We begin with S for the school where Adolf Hitler and Ludwig Wittgenstein attended together. We wonder if they met or merely passed each other in the hallways. Locations play a significant role in our conversation – L for Linz, W for Vienna. However, K for Krakow plays the leading role. From the perspective of this Galician city, we examine the beginning of the Great War. We talk about the fate of Ludwig Wittgenstein and his S for legacy, without which some P for connections would probably not have existed. We incorporate the stories of Georg Trakl and Rainer Maria Rilke into the narrative. T for the tragedy of those who desperately wanted to meet, but They failed. We turn our attention to an important supporting figure – Ludwig von Ficker. We also examine R for disappointments after a meeting and recall the story of Rilke and Tolstoy. We also delve into the magical triangle created by Boris Pasternak, Marina Tsvetaeva, and Rilke. Finally, I ask about Paul Celan's role in the essayistic narrative, and it turns out that the end is the beginning of the book. This episode was produced in collaboration with Znak publishing house.
