The Importance of Agricultural Lime: Evidence from Western Kenya
The productivity of every farm in Kenya is dependent on the potential of the soils in each field to grow crops. Long term and repeated use of nitrogen-based fertilizers in the maize growing zones of Western Kenya has resulted in high soil acidity reducing farm productivity. Recent introduction of the use of lime to reduce soil acidity has resulted in dramatic improvement in maize yield. This video shows how farmers in Western Kenya have recorded improved productivity due to use of Agricultural Lime.
