Drums Sound So Different When Recorded!
A follow up video to this one is at • Drums Sound So Different When Recorded - ... for those interested. Microphones hear drums very differently than do human ears, and given that we often used multiple microphones to capture a drum kit their placement and ability to be 'everywhere at once' on the kit make the captured drum sound VERY different than what one hears live in the room with them. I wanted to make a video that might demonstrate how different the live vs. recorded (and then processed and mixed) sounds are. The mics that I mentioned for use with the Jecklin Disk are the Avenson STO-2: https://avensonaudio.com/sto2/
