After leaving our cedar deck completely untreated for two years, it had weathered from warm natural cedar to a silvery grey. With our greenhouse project temporarily delayed, we decided it was finally time to restore the deck, protect the wood and give our entire backyard a much-needed transformation. This cedar deck restoration ended up being a much bigger project than expected. We cleaned the deck, applied a wood-restoration treatment, pressure washed every board, sanded the raised cedar grain and waited for the moisture level to drop before applying a pigmented wood oil. Then we opened the Smoky Grey pigment...and immediately started questioning our decision. In this video, we share the complete cedar-deck makeover process, including how we prepared the weathered wood, removed the grey surface grain, pressure washed the deck, sanded the cedar and applied CUTEK Extreme wood oil.
