Today we are presenting a special Juneteenth Recital cosponsored by the African Heritage and Cultural Institute and performed by organist and Howard University Professor Mickey Thomas Terry. Dr. Terry is presenting a program of great music by great composers: • Cinq Improvisations (Te Deum) – Charles Tournemire • Variations of the Hymn Tune MARYTON – Noel Da Costa • Arietta – Thomas H. Kerr • Toccata in C – J. S. Bach • Fantasia un Fuge uber den Choral ‘Ad nos, ad salutarem undam’ – Franz Liszt Mickey Thomas Terry is a critically acclaimed concert organist, scholar, and educator based in Washington, DC. He holds degrees from East Carolina University and a Ph.D. from Georgetown University. A prize-winner in national organ competitions, Dr. Terry has performed throughout the United States and the Caribbean, appeared at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and been broadcast on American Public Media's Pipedreams. He is the editor of a celebrated multi-volume African American Organ Music Anthology (MorningStar Music Publishers), now in eleven volumes, and has published widely in leading music journals. Dr. Terry serves as Senior Lecturer in Music at Howard University and is Organist of Fairfax Presbyterian Church. He is the 2026–2027 Artist Fellowship recipient from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
