In the winter of 1482, Leonardo da Vinci left Florence for Milan. At the time, Leonardo was 30 years old, and he was the classic example of the perpetual loser and unlucky man. Of course, Leonardo's contemporaries acknowledged his talent, but the young artist already had a well-established reputation for being incapable of finishing a project once begun, as he was restless and constantly distracted by trivialities and useless contemplation of various useless trifles. This reputation was all the more damning and sad because, in those distant times, 30 was considered practically old age, as the average life expectancy then rarely exceeded 40. And yet, to everyone's surprise, in just the next few years spent in Milan, Leonardo da Vinci managed to become one of the most prominent and significant figures of the European Renaissance, whose influence not only remained unseen but, on the contrary, only grew with each passing century. Yesterday's failure, da Vinci, transformed into a genius who conquered the world.
