Kordell Stewart: The Volatile Career Story of THE FIRST LAMAR JACKSON | FPP
He’s one of the first guys that come to mind when you think players who were ahead of their time. Kordell Stewart was one of the most unique talents in football throughout the 90s as both an NCAA and NFL player. Way before guys like Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson were using their legs and arm to dominate, Stewart was one of the first to truly be an elite threat through the ground and air. But on top of being able to throw and run, he could even act as a very good receiver. He had speed, agility, strength and field vision and began to show those during 4 great years at the University of Colorado. He would join the Pittsburgh Steelers during the mid 90s and over the next 8 years, would flash moments of brilliance, but also moments of frustration. When he was used correctly, he was lethal, but if you tried to play him as primarily a quarterback, some of his weaknesses were exposed. He may have been best as a swiss army knife player, but Kordell Stewart was set on being a QB and he stuck to his guns to have a respectable NFL Career which really saw him push the envelope at a time where the league wasn’t ready for it. He dealt with serious rumours during the prime of his career, but was able to comeback to put together a pro bowl season and even though he always came up short in the playoffs, he still led the Steelers to some great seasons, which will never be forgotten. You might have loved or hated him, he may have made you cheer in excitement and scream in frustration, but one thing everyone can agree on, is that Slash changed the game https://www.pro-football-reference.co...
