Puzzle De Pon! R! R) 14.394.032 (World Record) by Giro-X

Puzzle De Pon! R! R) - 1997 Visco/Taito Points: 14.394.032 - Japanese BIOS The score is rated: World record Player: LUX aka Giro-X Played on WolfMAME .183 (puzzldpr) Personal comment from the author of the replay (giro-X -- LUX) / Commento personale dall'autore del replay Puzzle de Pon is a game clearly based on the Puzzle Bobble titles, with some differences. Players don't try to clear the whole screen before the ceiling pushes balls to the floor; object of this game is to drop a plate before time runs out, and there is no falling ceiling. Therefore, you must combine well quick shooting speed with precise aim and strategy. Three special balls can appear at random times on certain rounds, Arrow Ball (aiming line for 10 shots), Star (clear a color from the field), Bomb (destroy balls touched on hit); the rounds have also plenty of undestructable balls, that must be dropped or bombed. Puzzle de Pon R is the sequel to the original chapter. If you ask me, a very cheap way for Visco Corp. to grab some earnings with almost no effort. Rounds are different but quite identical to "Normal" difficulty set of rounds you could play on Neo-Geo AES version of first chapter; backgrounds are different; timer has been sped up so it's now harder to clear some final rounds (*ahem* 38 *cough*)... and that's it. Game is basically the same, just harder. Still, it's one of my first games ever played on a real arcade, I'm truly attached to it. The key for high score in Puzzle de Pon (both chapters) is to ignore the time bonus, and clear as many balls as possible in your 120 "seconds" of time. Dropping balls doesn't award any point at all. There are also some specific, hidden blank spots in some rounds, that give you 1 million pts if filled with a ball (just once each). Puzzle de Pon is notorius also for its Engrish and questionable use of it, such as the poor Arrow ball named "Allow ball" and the screen CANCER GET... because we're earning plates with zodiacal signs. Great. Tutto molto bello :v
