Webinar Consolidation
This session focuses on the simulation of consolidation behaviour in OPTUM GX, covering time-dependent response, creep and the influence of drainage conditions. The webinar demonstrates how the combination of realistic soil models, drainage layouts and staged construction can be used to predict settlement development with a high degree of confidence. Topics covered: • Consolidation: basic theory, classic Terzaghi versus Biot • Soil models • Creep • Drains • Example: embankment construction on soft soil Through a detailed example of embankment construction on soft soil, the session illustrates how excess pore pressures dissipate over time and how creep contributes to long-term settlements. Participants will see how different drainage conditions and material stiffness affect both the rate and magnitude of settlement, and how these results can be applied directly in the design and verification of embankments and soft-soil foundations. Speaker: Kristian Krabbenhøft, Partner and Senior Consultant, Optum CE
