KUD Kitka of s.Dračevo, Skopje perform 8 dances in Philadelpia, U S in July 1976 Part I (of 3)

This is part 1 of 3. Part 2 contains additional dances by KUD Kitka of s.Dračevo, Skopje. Part 3 contains dances by a group of men from a village in western Serbia, and some men and women from Bosnia and Hercegovina. All 3 parts were part of a single video that I found among my possessions last year. I had it transferred from the old format it was in to Quick Time so that I could view it. I have broken it up into three parts to make it easier to view. The dances on this video are: 1. Ibrahim Odža, 2. Berovka & Ratevka, 3. Teška Krstačka, 4. Baba Djurdja, 5. Skopska Crnogorka, 6.Lesno, a woman singing to kaval (non-dance), 7. Adana, 8. Nevestinsko oro (Dračevo variant). Dračevo is a suburb southwest of Skopje. The group Kitka was led by Mile Kolarov a reknowned musician (kaval and gajda). A year or two before this concert (which was part of a 1976 US tour by the four Yugoslav groups) sponsored by the Smithsonian, Mile had spent a year as a guest in Philadelphia during which he worked with some Americans in the Philadelphia area to create a dance group and a band, Novo Selo, which played traditional Macedonian instruments: tambura, gajde, kaval, tapan.
