It's time for a complete test ride of the 2024 Yamaha NMAX Neo. This is the cheapest version, selling for only IDR 32.7 million (OTR Jakarta). The main difference compared to the Neo S is that it still uses conventional ignition, not keyless like the Neo S, which is priced at IDR 33.7 million (OTR Jakarta). Compared to the NMAX "Turbo," the Neo uses an engine that's practically identical to the Lexi LX 155: a third-generation 155cc Blue Core engine, but still uses a conventional CVT system with rollers. The initial impression during testing was that it wasn't as responsive as the NMAX "Turbo." The initial pull felt similar to the NMAX "Turbo" when using Riding Mode T. There was a noticeable lag at around 5,500 rpm. However, compared to the 2019 NMAX, the pull still felt lighter. So, for testing on a circuit, as long as you're willing to let the rpms hang, it's still enjoyable. Oh, and as for the suspension characteristics, the one that's slightly different is the rear. Because it lacks a preload setting, the settings are positioned like those on the 2024 NMAX "Turbo" for double-riding, slightly firmer.
