Regardless of the climate or the time of year, this artisan, along with Daniel, his partner at the kiln, carry out the invaluable task of making raw mud bricks to supply a growing sector in the Traslasierra region: Bioconstruction, Bioarchitecture, or Sustainable and Bioclimatic Architecture. El Vikingo is known for the high quality of its handcrafted pieces, which are processed into exposed bricks. With his yellow Someca and a small 1960s truck nicknamed "El Abuelo," the 68-year-old Viking carries the mud to the paving slab, which uses a waterwheel to help prepare the clay, which is then patiently cut by hand on the courts. Daniel's skillful hand, using a tamper, flattens the clay, smoothing it out and leaving it perfect for use by bricklayers and builders after a stacking and drying process.
