For the entire month of May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Joanna is bringing you a special parent series, where she interviews parents whose children have overcome a variety of mental health challenges. From his toddler years, Sophie’s son struggled tremendously with emotional regulation. Having grown accustomed to navigating raging outbursts and continually advocating for her son’s mental health, Sophie was flooded with relief when around 7th grade, her son stabilized. However, his improvement was short lived before online learning during COVID sent him in a downward spiral. On today’s episode of Success is Subjective, Sophie shares how a late autism diagnosis during wilderness therapy connected the dots on years of emotional turmoil and was the beginning of her family’s healing journey.
