They work in tandem to regulate coolant flow and temperature, so they are typically replaced together. Water pump replacements on the Porsche 991.1 Carrera models aren't as frequent as those on its predecessor, but they're just as important. It's a relatively small price to pay for ownership, and a proper replacement means several years of trouble-free driving ahead. When the water pump starts to fail, your engine won't be able to cool itself effectively and will begin to overheat.
