Shot in the Chest for Goa | The Unsung Martyr of 15th August 1955 | Archaeologist Sawani Shetye

This is the untold story of Karnail Singh Benipal – a fearless 25-year-old who gave his life to free Goa from Portuguese rule. Born in Punjab in 1930, inspired by great revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh, Karnail Singh was a true patriot from a young age. When the Goa Vimochan Sahayak Samiti called for volunteers to join the freedom struggle, he answered without hesitation. On the fateful day at Patradevi, Goa, he fearlessly faced Portuguese bullets to protect a fellow freedom fighter, Smt. Sahodaradevi Rai Sagar, carrying the Indian flag. A bullet pierced his chest, but his courage lit the path to liberation. 🕯 His sacrifice is a reminder of the unsung heroes who shaped India’s destiny — heroes we must remember, honor, and teach our future generations about. 📌 Watch this episode by Sawani Shetye – Archaeologist to discover the inspiring life, sacrifice, and legacy of Hutatma Karnail Singh Benipal. #GoaFreedomStruggle #UnsungHero #IndianHistory #Martyr #KarnailSinghBenipal #GoaLiberation #SawaniShetye #historyofindia Videography & Editing By Kartik S.
