This is Golden Medalist, a classic arcade Olympic sports game. I remember it was often titled "Gold Medal" in arcades. Since Konami's Hyper Sports series, there hadn't been a notable Olympic game in arcades. Because Konami's Hyper Olympics boasted such a high level of completion, despite its age, Hyper Olympics enjoyed a long and prosperous existence in arcades without a replacement. And the game that finally replaced it was Gold Medalist. It maintained the basic rules of Hyper Olympics, significantly improved the graphics, and steadily introduced unique new features, establishing it as a second-generation arcade Olympic game. Because this game enjoyed a long and successful arcade run without any real replacement, I imagine there must have been quite a few people who saw or played it in arcades.
