I Varnished a Violin with Pure Gold
Is it really possible to varnish a violin using pure gold? In this video, I present my latest precious violin, a unique instrument that brings together traditional violin making and rare materials. The violin features gold dust integrated into the varnish, along with rubies set into the scroll and the pegs, creating an object where sound, materials, and visual language meet. This is not about decoration for its own sake, but about exploring how far craftsmanship, materials, and artistic intention can go while still respecting the acoustic core of the instrument. I explains the ideas behind this violin, the technical challenges involved, and how such materials can be used without compromising structure, balance, or sound. Every element — from the wood selection to the varnish, from the gemstones to the final setup — is carefully considered as part of a single, coherent vision.
