When his friends heard about it, they went out to arrest him, for they said, "He is beside himself." But the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebul, and by the prince of demons he casts out demons." But he called them and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Likewise if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is at his end. No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods unless he first binds the strong man; then he will plunder his house. Truly I tell you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal guilt.” For they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” His mother and brothers came, and standing outside, they sent someone to call him. A crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, seeking you.” But he answered them, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And looking around at those who sat about him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
