What It Takes to Maintain a Railroad.

#Trains #Railroads Many of us like seeing trains and railway operations, but there's a good chance you haven't paid mind to a fundamental component of this activity: the railroad. As much as trains are cool to witness, there's no train without a good track to run on, and the sheer size of these machines makes maintaining said tracks a pretty intensive undertaking. Railroads, however, are fortunately equipped with their own equipment, in addition to rolling stock from outside companies, in order to maintain and replace the rails they need to ensure service is maintained. And fortunately for you, on a day where my time trackside was riddled with dead periods due to maintenance, I happened to see some of this equipment in action and went down the rabbit hole to learn more. HUGE shoutout to everyone who lent me footage for this project, I can't thank y'all enough: ‪@garailfanning3264‬ ‪@RivannaRailfan‬ ‪@TheCarolinaRailfan‬ ‪@NorthCountryTrains‬ ‪@up844fan9‬ ‪@ccrx6700‬ And until next time my friends, God bless, I'll see you soon, out on the High Iron.
