24 Hours in SALINAS Santa Elena | ECUADOR
Plan to spend more than a day in Salinas Santa Elena Ecuador, I really wish I had because this beach town in Ecuador feels more like a city and has lots to do. But I know I'll be back so give me your recommendations for things to do in Salinas Ecuador. We arrived in Salinas on the Guayaquil holiday weekend and we knew it would be busy but didn't realize it would be this busy. Playas was definitely more chill. This is busier. But this beach is much cleaner. Even though when we got in today it was so jammed. There wasn’t even two feet between people. Before Montanita became the hot beach town in Ecuador, long before that when it was still a fisherman’s town, Salinas was the place to be. The place to holiday. Where everyone from Guayaquil went. So the best way I can compare Playas and Salinas. Playas is very much a small town, yes there is more and more development but it still feels like a beach town. This is a city. This is a city with a beach on the end. Andres was saying that was actually the intention when they started developing here. Was looking at South Beach and Miami, how there’s a city with a beach on the end. And that is what it kind of feels like here, like we’re in a big noisy party beach city. All right, so it is a little bit crazy outside. And so we decided instead of eating in a restaurant, we would just pick up some food and bring it back to Cafe Jazz. And we splurged. Like on a lot of meat. So first, we went to Roca Parrilla and this place looks awesome. It was packed. The guy just grilling all of the food. It looked so fantastic that we ordered quite a bit. This is a chuzo. So a chuzo in northern Ecuador is known as a pincho. This is just various meat. It looks like we've got some chorizo here, as long, as as well as some beef. As well we've got some rice and we've got some menestra which is with beans instead of lentils as we were walking by Comida Tia Susi. It looked so good and it was packed with locals. We decided we also had to go there. And we got this huge thing for three dollars. It's called a bandera and it's four different things. So we've got some fideos, which are noodles, we've got some rice. Seco de res, which is beef. So beef in a sauce and then it looks like this is pork also in a sauce. Three dollars, for all of this. Cafe Jazz we are we are staying, they also have accommodation. The cafe is closed. So they said we could actually use the tables to eat here which I think is so nice. We woke up. Sky is still kind of grey, but it's humid and we’re wearing shorts. We're going to have breakfast here. Encebollado is one of my favorite dishes. Fish soup with lots of onions, lime and then, of course, some chifles for three dollars. And then Andres decided to get the bolon de verde, which looks really good. And then also a beef stew. We're at Cevicheria d’Hugo. And yeah, big portion sizes. So definitely need to come back to Salinas another time. We drove up this huge long line to go to La Chocolatera. Not waiting in line for this so… give me your best recommendations for Salinas, what should I do on the next trip. // MORE ABOUT ECUADOR// You can find all of my best tips at https://www.baconismagic.ca/Ecuador Need an English speaking guide in Ecuador?
