Machine tools are essential for manufacturing precision parts used in aircraft, automobiles, aerospace, medical, and other fields. One of the machine tools manufactured by DMG Mori Seiki is the 5-axis machining center. A 5-axis machining center not only moves its main spindle, which is equipped with a cutting tool for cutting materials, in three directions (up/down, left/right, and front/back), but also moves the base on which the material to be cut is fixed, tilting and rotating along two axes, allowing it to create smooth curves and complex, three-dimensional shapes. Furthermore, while previously dedicated machine tools were used to separate each process, a 5-axis machining center consolidates five processes, including cutting, polishing, and measurement, into one device. This not only reduces the number of operators, but also significantly improves work efficiency. Furthermore, to increase production efficiency, factories collect and analyze information from the manufacturing site and visualize the data.
