Kona Snorkeling in Kua Bay - Where to Snorkel Big Island Hawaii

If you're wondering where to snorkel Big Island, Hawaii check out one of our regular Kona snorkeling spots. This is of the most popular beaches in the Kona area. Kua Bay is a stretch of white sand with decent surf for body surfing. It's great for the whole family. There's showers and bathrooms here. Located just north of the Kona International Airport Kua is close to Kona town. If you're heading toward the north you'll notice a rather large red cinder cone on the left. That's where you'll turn in to find Kua Bay. When driving in parking can be a bit of a challenge especially later in the day. When setting up on the beach here it's often best to walk down the beach a ways to the north. This area usually has fewer people and better surf. It also has fewer rocks in the water. Is it the Best Snorkeling on Big Island, Hawaii? The snorkeling here is good. When you first get in the water it will be murky but if you keep going to the north (right) it will eventually clear up and you'll be treated to some nice reef, lot's of sand and plenty of reef fish. Snorkeling here is a solid 7.5 out of 10.
