Catherine Waltz Sequence Dance to Music

Shannah and Phil dance through the ever popular Catherine Waltz sequence dance to music. It has to be one of the most popular Waltzs included in the majority of sequence dances. It was arranged in 1956 by Arthur Shaw of Sheffield and a slow motion version can be found on our website/youtube channel. http://www.sequencedanceuk.co.uk BARS 1-4 - REVERSE TURN - BACK CHANGE - REVERSE TURN - BACK CHANGE BARS 5-8 - FORWARD PASSING CHANGE - NATURAL SPIN TURN WITH CLOSED FINISH BARS 9-12 - WHISK - WING - CLOSED TELEMARK - NATURAL TURN BARS 13-16 - SPIN TURN - OUTSIDE CHECKS - CLOSED FINISH NOTES - The first four bars should really resemble a 'rectangle' shape with ½ turn taken on the reverse turn and no turn on the closed change - very difficult to actually dance!! Many dancers treat it more like the Emmerdale Waltz and do 4 quarter turns instead. The Forward passing change should be taken Outside Partner, but some dancers prefer to adapt it to a more simple Left Foot Closed Change, i.e. Man steps forward (LF) side close, Lady back side close. A very popular Waltz that includes all the basic elements and is very enjoyable to dance! We like this one!
