This Man Dawson: Hired to Kill a Cop (1960) | A Brother Seeks Justice

This Man Dawson (1959–60) stars Keith Andes as Colonel Frank Dawson, a former U.S. Marine Corps officer brought in to clean up police corruption in an unnamed American city. The series gives its police stories a tough uncompromising edge, with Dawson relying on unconventional tactics against crime. William Conrad—best remembered as the radio voice of Gunsmoke, later the narrator of The Fugitive and star of Cannon—provides the distinctive narration. A police officer is murdered, but the prime suspect walks free on a carefully prepared alibi. Colonel Frank Dawson refuses to let the case end there, setting in motion a tense campaign to expose the men behind the crime—with unexpected help from the slain officer’s brother, a military man trained in guerrilla warfare. The cast includes Marc Lawrence, William Woodson, Mickey Simpson, Carl Bensen, and William Flaherty. Preserved within the Moviecraft Inc. archive, one of the largest collections of historic film and early television in the United States. Licensing available from original archival materials.
