Why your best creative ideas don’t become great work.

How is it that we can be sparked into these phenomena, almost otherworldly, ideas at our creative work's conception, but somehow once we've got our hands on it and worked it into form the idea has fallen way short of our vision and the potential we felt in it? In this video essay I'll be exploring a possibility for WHY I feel like this happens: that our work might be continuously under the influence of a force called entropy: a gradual pull towards disorder and forgettability. I explore the one oppositional tool we can harness to counteract this force – called an armature – and how to use it while we are crafting our work to ensure cohesion and the powerful expression of our distilled creative ideas.
