He has studied democracy and freedom, theater and libraries, Thucydides, Augustus, and Caesar, as well as Marx and Gramsci. He writes regularly for the "Corriere della Sera," is professor emeritus at the University of Bari, and directs the "Quaderni di storia" (History Notebooks). A Failed Revolution; Limited Sovereignty. ⭕️ LUCIO TROIANI He graduated cum laude in Classics from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the University of Pisa with a thesis in Roman History entitled "The Historiographical Work of Philo of Byblos," under the direction of Professor Emilio Gabba on June 22, 1970, Lucio Troiani then attended courses at the Oriental School of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" under the guidance of Professors Sabatino Moscati and Mario Liverani, in particular those in Hebrew, Ancient Oriental History, and Semitic Philology. He subsequently attended seminars held at the Scuola Normale Superiore by Professor Arnaldo Momigliano (1970-1986), with whom he had a fruitful scientific collaboration, and those held by Professor Elias Bickerman (1969-1974), whose methods and themes stimulated his studies and flowed into his scientific production. Lucio Troiani then maintained a scientific collaboration with a student of Elias Bickerman, Albert Irwin Baumgarten, his biographer, who consulted him during the preparation of the biography of Bickerman that he published (Elias Bickerman as a Historian of the Jews, Tübingen 2010). He held a scholarship at the Institute of Ancient History of the University of Pisa from 1972 to 1974. From November 1, 1974, to October 31, 1982, he was a lecturer, and then from November 1, 1982, an associate professor, of "History of the Ancient Eastern Mediterranean" at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Pisa, having won the relevant competition. From November 1, 1987, to October 31, 1990, he was an associate professor of "Exegesis of Greek and Roman Historical Sources" at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Pavia. Having won a competitive examination for the chair of Roman History, he was Associate Professor of "History of Ancient Historiography" at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan from November 1, 1990, to October 31, 1993, periodically collaborating on the scientific initiatives promoted by Professor Marta Sordi.
