Originally, I went mushroom picking near the Blue Mountains, but ended up checking out the Lost City walking track near Lithgow, and it turned out to be surprisingly worthwhile. This trail is about 5 kilometers from Lithgow and is a relatively new route that officially opened in December 2024. The entire trail is 6 kilometers round trip, and it's advisable to allow about 2 to 4 hours. It's classified as a Category 3 trail, not particularly difficult, and relatively beginner-friendly for most people. The most distinctive feature is the tower-like sandstone formations along the way, truly giving you the feeling of stepping into a lost ancient city. And the scenery isn't just limited to rocks; the trail also passes valley viewpoints, streams, old dams, and mining relics, offering a rich variety of views and making it great for vlogging. There's a fork in the trail midway; one path is more conventional and easier, while the other is shorter but steeper. You can choose according to your fitness level. If you happen to be visiting the Blue Mountains or Lithgow area and are looking for a less-traveled, scenic, and not too difficult hiking route, I think this is definitely worth adding to your list.
