My Dear Friend - Ney Rosauro (Vibraphone: Pablo E. Ranlett-López)

My Dear Friend by Ney Rosauro Performed by Pablo E. Ranlett-López Message: (READ IT) I’ve had quite the interesting journey with this piece.. At first it started out as just the underclassmen competition piece for the Mississippi Day of Percussion. Then I read into the piece… Composer Ney Rosauro wrote this piece in memory of his dear friend Jose Pedro Boessio once he heard of his passing. Soon after I began to learn the piece, I also had suffered a loss. There was no death. It was more of an emotional loss of someone I loved.. I took that emotion of heartbreak and loneliness and poured it into this piece. I had been practicing this piece in a practice room on the night of January 20th, 2017. On that night, I had found out that the brother(Roberto Fernandez) of my stepfather(Bocho Fernandez) had passed away after his long fight with cancer. Once, I found out the news I decided to make this recording in memory of him. The next morning, January 21st, 2017 at roughly 4:00 a.m., a tornado passed through the Hattiesburg/Petal area here in Mississippi. There were 4 lives reported lost and many homes were lost. So, I dedicate this piece, “My Dear Friend,” in memory of the love that I lost, my stepfather’s brother and best friend, and to the people of the Southern Mississippi area going through this tough time. Stay safe out there. Love, Pablo E. Ranlett-López
