Opening Weekend Walleye at Pigeon Lake 2021

2021 Opening weekend was a blast. Went after walleye and the odd pike. Got out for this years first open water action in the Eagle Performance Boat. The bite was a bit tough at first finding them in the shallows and not in their usual mid lake humps. I found some shallow but later in the day found them in the migration path away from the spawning grounds and on 2 different drop offs at the bottom in 18-20 feet of water. Tried a drop shot and got a few but they seemed to be going for the weight instead of the bait so I switched to a jighead and a minnow and the bait and commotion were together. The Lowrance ActiveTarget lived up to it's winter hype and there's no looking back. Summer rods in the Scotty R5 were wicked, quick draw action and held the split grips in very secure. All the gear worked great, new rods, reels and line were awesome.
