On our trip through Malaysia and Singapore, we decided to stop at these paradise islands, and we think it was the best choice. They surprised us so much, we thought we were in the Caribbean! The Perhentian Islands are a small archipelago belonging to Malaysia. They are located about 10 nautical miles off the coast of Malaysia and within the state of Terengganu. The two main islands are Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil. The best time to travel to Perhentian is from April to August, as from October to March is monsoon season and all businesses on the islands close (including hotels).
